LIV Golf’s higher ups got what they needed this week as Bryson DeChambeau finally returned to winning ways on the tour to pick his first win on LIV since 2023.
DeChambeau won LIV Korea by two shots to get back in the winner’s circle as he made a huge putt down the stretch to finally see off his teammate, Charles Howell III.
The current US Open champion fell apart in the final round of The Masters recently while he also blew chances at both LIV Miami and LIV Mexico.
In Korea though, he got over the line with a clinic in ball striking, putting and shot creation.
And according to the Golf Channel’s Ryan Lavner, there is something in DeChambeau’s game that doesn’t get spoken about enough.
Bryson DeChambeau’s short-game highlighted after winning LIV Korea
Anyone who has watched golf for the last decade or so will be acutely aware that Bryson DeChambeau is one of the very biggest hitters the game of golf has.
However, while that long-game is impressive, Lavner has pointed out that it’s actually DeChambeau’s short-game that made him stand out in Korea.
“What I saw this week in South Korea was really a testament to his short-game,” Lavner explained on the Rex and Lav podcast.
“Bryson DeChambeau is leading LIV Golf in the statistics in scrambling. The dude obviously is an incredible driver of the golf ball, when his irons are on he can get it going, he’s an underrated putter I think he always has been.
“But the shots he can play around the green and we saw that on display at Augusta National. He’s always struggled in like high rough but anytime he had like tight lies like in Korea, he’s so imaginative and he uses the bounce of the club wedges so well, that really stood out to me. A guy who can swing it as hard as he does still has the touch he has around the greens.”

As Lavner mentions here, the short-game element of DeChambeau’s golf game rarely gets a mention but it is worth pointing out how good he is.
In scrambling, he tops the LIV stats at 66.3%, above Cameron Smith and David Puig who are on the 65% mark.
DeChambeau is also T5 on LIV for greens in regulation at 70.9%, while he’s also T1 for eagles made while maintaining his position at the top when it comes to driving as well.
Overall, it’s very impressive to see what DeChambeau is doing right now and with the PGA around the corner, he’ll be desperate to put his Masters misery behind him and win yet another major.
