Rory McIlroy will be desperate to end his run of near-misses as he takes on the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week.
Scottie Scheffler empathised with McIlroy after his play-off loss to Billy Horschel at last week’s BMW PGA Championship.
And that came after the Northern Irishman lost by a single shot to Rasmus Hojgaard at the Irish Open in front of his home fans.
But McIlroy now has another chance for success on the DP World Tour, with St Andrews playing host to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
He is preparing for the event by playing the pro-am with his father Gerry, but it is his other pairings that will certainly steal the limelight.

Rory McIlroy shares verdict on Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan
McIlroy will partner Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, with the former the PGA Tour commissioner and the latter the governor of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The four-time major champion has now shared his thoughts on their presence in St Andrews, telling BBC Sport NI: “There’s no better place than the home of golf to try and get everyone together and talking.
“I think it’s a great thing and good sign that Jay and Yasir are going to play together. And obviously you’ve got quite a big contingent over from LIV that are playing in this event.

“I think what Johann Rupert, the man who runs this event, is trying to do is just bring the golf world back together a little bit.
“If we need to be forced together in some way, he’s trying to do that. I think it will be good. It’s certainly a step in the right direction.
“They (Monahan and Rumayyan) both want the same thing too. It’s a matter of getting all the different constituents on board.”
Can the PGA Tour and LIV Golf take positive steps at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship?
It has been a long time since discussions first got underway between the PGA Tour and the PIF, which bankrolls LIV Golf.
But it is extremely likely that Monahan and Rumayyan are in St Andrews to try and reach some form of agreement.
The ongoing battle should also be helped by the fact that 14 LIV Golf players have committed to taking part in the tournament.

McIlroy has certainly been heavily involved in the debate thus far, and he could take centre stage given his pairings this week.
The Northern Irishman will play alongside Monahan on Friday, before taking on the Old Course with Al-Rumayyan on Saturday.
