Rory McIlroy is one of the most media friendly golfers – if not sports people – in the world and he’s no stranger to answering questions. But what if the shoe was on the other foot and he got to ask the questions?
Well, that’s not something we are ever likely to get to see but for someone like McIlroy, who is bombarded at every event he goes to, he must have so many return questions he’d like to ask.

Thankfully for us golf fans, McIlroy has been asked exactly what he’d say if he had the chance.
And giving one of his usual measured answers but filled with honesty, McIlroy admitted that he’s got one big issue with some journalists.
Rory McIlroy takes aim at ‘negative’ golf journalists
Speaking to Kyle Porter for Normal Sport, McIlroy was asked about the boot being on the other foot and what he’d love to ask journalists.
And revealing his answer, McIlroy took aim at those who spread negativity in golf.
“So I would say the one thing that I…and this isn’t you. There’s certain people in the game that I would say…how can I put this? We’re all in this together, right? We’re all in the game of golf together, and we all want to push forward.
“And I always wonder why some people in the media ask questions that have a negative connotation toward golf, or make golf look bad or put it in a bad light.
“I get it. I get that it’s human nature and negativity sells. And that’s why CNN is the way it is, and why Fox News is the way it is and all that stuff.
“But if we’re all in this together and we all know that we can benefit by raising the game up, some people in the media I’d love to ask why their coverage of golf is so negative.”
McIlroy must get frustrated
Being the poster boy for something like the PGA Tour comes with responsibilities and Rory McIlroy is one of the best speakers on tour.
However, he must get fed up sometimes about certain questions.
McIlroy does always speak well and he often goes above and beyond to answer a journalist by going into detail and reason with his answers.
But the Northern Irishman is asked so much about the wider game that he knows full well that one slip is going to be picked up on.
His comments here are not surprising and given the current divide in the game, it’s little wonder McIlroy has noticed that negativity a bit more.
