It’s hard to imagine a golfer getting any more famous than Rory McIlroy – albeit for Tiger Woods – but it seems like winning The Masters and a career grand slam might have done just for the Northern Irishman.

McIlroy’s memorable win a few weeks back at Augusta National laid to rest over a decade of demons at the tournament and as he put on that green jacket, the relief in the whole world of golf was palpable.

Now, McIlroy is looking to kick on and win more majors, with overtaking the likes of Phil Mickelson and Sir Nick Faldo bound to be in his sights.

Of course, for McIlroy, his life is not all about golf either. He has multiple business ventures – like the TGL – and more that he’s keen to explore and keep on developing.

And giving insight into his private life and business life following his win at Augusta, McIlroy has told CNBC News that things have indeed changed for him.

Rory McIlroy shares how his life has changed since winning the grand slam

McIlroy was primarily speaking to CNBC about his new business ventures with his partners but naturally, talk got onto golf and his Masters win.

After McIlroy address the current LIV/PGA scenario, he was then asked how his life had altered since winning The Masters.

And unsurprisingly, it appears McIlroy has gone to another stratosphere.

“I think going from being one of the most recognised golfers in the world to then being one of the most recognised athletes in the world and doing something very few in the sport have done, it opens doors, it opens opportunities but I still want to be patient,” McIlroy admitted.

“I don’t want to be opportunistic. There’s been reach outs from all walks of life. I think so [it feels different].

“I think being only the 6th ever to get the grand slam is very meaningful for me and I’ve been striving for for the last decade plus. So it does yeah, I sort of feel I went to another category or different level.”

Rory McIlroy’s other business ventures outside of golf

Rory McIlroy has his fingers in plenty of pies in business and as part of the Dublin based ‘Symphony Ventures’, he has partnered up with another company, TPG, in a number of different investment projects.

McIlroy was discussing that TPG link up on the above interview and he clearly has a business acumen that extends beyond golf.

He also owns a stake in TMRW Sports who help with the tech involved in the TGL, while he’s also stakes in companies like Whoop and Puttery.

Put simply, McIlroy is more than ready for golf retirement as and when he decides to hang up the clubs and it’s safe to say he will not bored come that time.
