Rory McIlroy is already looking ahead to 2025 after concluding his PGA Tour season at the Tour Championship.
McIlroy plans to reduce his schedule next year, with the Northern Irishman moving to the DP World Tour following the event at East Lake.
The busy schedule has played a major role in McIlroy’s technique deteriorating, with a better 2025 potentially then in store if he does manage to cut back his schedule.
McIlroy also added the Olympics to his 2024, which is far from over given his Race to Dubai ambitions in the coming months.
He finished T9 at the Tour Championship earlier this month, finishing the campaign with seven top-10s and 18 of 19 cuts made.

Rory McIlroy says he will definitely play two DP World Tour events in 2025
McIlroy is now back on home soil for the Irish Open, which is underway at Royal County Down in Northern Ireland.
And it is one of two events that he definitely plans to compete in next year amid his reduced schedule ambitions.

“For Shane [Lowry] and myself and some of the other guys that play predominantly in America, this date suits better,” McIlroy told BBC Sport Northern Ireland. “We can focus on the FedEx Cup and Stateside and then turn our attention to Europe.
“These two weeks, here and Wentworth [for the BMW PGA Championship] next week, we’re always looking forward to getting back.
“It’s a long stretch in the States so to get back and play two great tournaments, a lot of guys enjoy that so I’ll definitely be back.”
Rory McIlroy swaps the PGA Tour for the DP World Tour at the Irish Open
McIlroy clearly has the Race to Dubai on his mind at all times, with the four-time major winner currently leading the standings for the prestigious title.
He will be keen to continue his momentum in this year’s event at the Irish Open, with extra motivation coming from the fact that it is being played in his home country.
It will, however, return to Ireland in 2025, with The K Club in County Kildare hosting the tournament next year.

Fortunately for McIlroy, he lifted the Irish Open trophy there back in 2016, with a second home success certainly on the cards in 2025.
But first the four-time major champion must conquer Royal County Down this week, before heading to Wentworth next week for the BMW PGA Championship.
