Scottie Scheffler is one of the biggest names in golf right now and you know you’re doing something right when the biggest name in snooker drops your name in when making a comparison.
Scheffler had a Tiger Woods-esque 2024 as he won a number of key events on the PGA Tour while also adding a second masters and an Olympic gold medal to his cabinet.
For Scheffler, the world number one, it’s now all about consistency and maintaining his fine form going into 2025 and a big Ryder Cup year.
Of course, when it comes to other sports, it’s normally the name of Tiger Woods who comes up when people compare greatness.
But according to Ronnie O’Sullivan, it is Scottie Scheffler who springs to mind when he assesses the current world snooker champion, Kyren Wilson.

Ronnie O’Sullivan compares Kyren Wilson to Scottie Scheffler
O’Sullivan was speaking about the performances of 32-year-old snooker player Kyren Wilson and in doing so, made the comparison with Scheffler due to the consistencies in all aspects of his game.
“Some players who have the talent and have got the pedigree, they rise in stature and go on to win many, many things. I would definitely put Kyren in that bracket where [he] is going to win many, many more big tournaments,” O’Sullivan said.
“He reminds me of Scottie Scheffler, the golfer. You get a lot of people who drive the ball a long way, do this well, do that well.
“He [Wilson] does everything very well and when he is on it, he is a tough competitor.”

Scottie Scheffler can turn his hand to other sports
Whether or not Kyren Wilson can be a good golfer, only he knows and we won’t hold our breath for any sort of crossover anytime soon.
However, Scottie Scheffler is more than capable of switching sports. In fact, so much so, that Sam Burns even suggested Scheffler be good enough to turn pro when it comes to Pickleball.
“We had golf carts on the court lighting up the court, it’s late. And so we get to playing pickleball and I have a good serve, that was something that I was able to hang onto for a little bit, and then I really started to struggle getting returns back. It was just mainly because the ball was moving so much, I started to realise that Scottie may be the best pickleball player on tour, and potentially good enough to turn pro, and I don’t say that lightly because he’s the best pickleball player I’ve ever played against,” he said.
Whether or not Scheffler fancies an eventual switch into Pickleball, remains to be seen. But it’s almost sickening to see someone so good at one sport then excel in another.
