There is little doubt that Scottie Scheffler is the best golfer on the planet right now, and potentially on his way to establishing himself as an all-time great after his stunning 2024.
Of course, Scottie Scheffler has won eight times worldwide this year. He became the first player since Arnold Palmer in 1962 to win six times on the PGA Tour before the end of June – that included victories at The Masters, Bay Hill, The Players and The Memorial.
Meanwhile, Scheffler went on to win an Olympic gold medal at Le Golf National, and rounded off the PGA Tour season by triumphing at The Tour Championship. There is no question that it was an all-time year from Scheffler, and should he continue on anything like this trajectory, he will definitely be alongside the greatest to have ever teed it up.
Given how good he is, you would imagine that it would be nearly impossible for Scheffler to be particularly talented at any other hobby.
However, that is seemingly not the case.
Scottie Scheffler is not just an elite golfer
Speaking on The Smylie Show, Smylie Kaufman suggested that a late night game of pickleball alongside the world number one and Sam Burns convinced him that Scheffler could quite easily switch careers if he wanted to.

“We had golf carts on the court lighting up the court, it’s late. And so we get to playing pickleball and I have a good serve, that was something that I was able to hang onto for a little bit, and then I really started to struggle getting returns back. It was just mainly because the ball was moving so much, I started to realise that Scottie may be the best pickleball player on tour, and potentially good enough to turn pro, and I don’t say that lightly because he’s the best pickleball player I’ve ever played against,” he said.
Feel free to share the talent around, Scottie
Life just does not seem to be fair at times. Scheffler strikes the golf ball as well as Tiger Woods at his peak, and has put together a resume in 2024 alone that most players would dream of having over a full career.
And yet, there is another sport where he is seemingly on another level.
In all seriousness, sport has seen plenty of freaks of nature who seem to have an ability to reach an elite level in more than one discipline, so it is probably not all that surprising to some that Scheffler has an unbelievable amount of talent across multiple sports.
Hopefully for the golf game, Scheffler sees his long-term future on the course rather than the pickleball court.
