Robert MacIntyre made an interesting comment about the PGA Tour schedule after The Open Championship.

MacIntyre threatened to contend at Royal Portrush after a second-round 66 left him five strokes behind the lead.

Unfortunately for the Scotsman, the 36-hole leader was Scottie Scheffler, who only extended his advantage on days three and four.

Still, MacIntyre can take pride in his third top-10 finish at The Open (T7) and his second at Royal Portrush after coming T6 in 2019.

Speaking after the final round, he shared a complaint about the PGA Tour after playing so often recently.

Robert MacIntyre makes complaint about PGA Tour schedule

MacIntyre was asked for his thoughts on the short span between the first major championship of the season (The Masters) and the last (The Open).

Strangely, the four biggest tournaments happen within three months, leaving players and fans with a nine-month wait for the cycle to begin again.

With plenty of important events between the majors, MacIntyre’s schedule has been “absolutely hectic” in recent months, and he’s not keen.

“It’s quick, especially the PGA Tour season,” he said. “I think it’s too jammed. But you know me, I’m a small European who goes over there.

“But I feel like the schedule that I’ve been playing for the last, I don’t know, three months has been absolutely hectic.

“I feel I’ve hardly had a break. But that’s part of the job. Keep going. When you’re playing well, just keep going.”

A reporter then asked MacIntyre whether he intends to take some time off before the FedEx Cup Playoffs start in August.

“You can, but see, when I’m driving it this well, you feel like you can absolutely demolish golf courses when you’ve got it, when you can shape it, you’ve got control of it,” he continued.

“You feel as though it’s just around the corner, a win is around the corner. It’s difficult to win, but you feel it when you’ve got the driver going the way it is. That’s why I keep going. But then I run out of energy at some point.

“But no, after the Playoffs, there will be a little break, Wentworth, we’ll piece together the plan for Bethpage.”

MacIntyre’s answer suggests that he will participate in the Wyndham Championship, which starts on July 31 at Sedgefield Country Club.

Robert MacIntyre sets goal for remainder of 2025 season

MacIntyre’s objective for the remainder of the 2025 season is clear. The 28-year-old wants to lift a trophy for the first time since the Scottish Open last July.

“I obviously want to win,” he added. “I want to win. But top 10 in the world, very close to it. So there are a lot of massive things, the top 10, FedEx. I just want to improve every year on what I’ve done.

“It might not be visual, as in on the FedEx or on the Race to Dubai, but statistically for me last year, Mike and I were talking about it on the golf course, it’s not even night and day how much better I am at this game or how much more complete of a player.

“It’s just streaks. It’s just allowing that to happen in little pieces. I’m frustrated this week with certain parts of my game, and I’m finishing top 10 in a major, and I’m frustrated with certain parts of my game. Things are good, and I’ve just got to wait my turn.”
