Robert MacIntyre is looking for a second win on home soil at this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The DP World Tour event uses Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, and St Andrews over the first three days before the final round takes place on the Old Course.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is also unique due to the pro-am format used throughout all four days. Matt Fitzpatrick, playing alongside his mother, won the 2023 edition.

MacIntyre won the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club the week before the Open Championship at Royal Troon. This week, MacIntyre will be playing alongside his dad, and the Scot has shared his thoughts on the Old Course ahead of Thursday’s first round.

Speaking to the DP World Tour, MacIntyre admitted he has a love-hate relationship with the home of golf.

“I’ve never played the Old Course that well until the Monday last year,” he said. “I find it just seems to become a putting competition. In that round, I took a more aggressive route off the tee to try and create a better angle into pins.”

MacIntyre continued: “It’s always special. It’s a golf course I’ve had a love/hate relationship with over the years, but the town of St Andrews is one of the most special places you can go to. The whole place is so special.”

A star-studded field has descended on St Andrews for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week.

14 LIV golf stars, including Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm, are set to compete. The Spaniard needs to compete in two more events to ensure his DP World Tour membership remains intact.

Koepka, meanwhile, committed to the event before the LIV Golf Individual Championship, which took place three weeks ago in Chicago.

Rory McIlroy and Billy Horschel will also present on Scotland’s east coast. Horschel is coming off his second BMW PGA Championship win at Wentworth, where he beat the Northern Irishman in a playoff.
