Robert MacIntyre is the man in the driving seat going into the final round of the Canadian Open this weekend.
The popular Scotsman is four shots out in front and looks firmly in control of his golf game ahead of what could be a massive fourth round for him.
With his Father on the bag, MacIntyre is nearing his very first PGA Tour win.
But just who is Robert MacIntyre, and what’s his career had in store so far?
Well, here at the Golfing Gazette, we’ve taken a look at MacIntyre’s career so far and the numbers involved.
Where was Robert MacIntyre born and raised?
The 27-year-old was born in the small Scottish town of Oban on the west coast of Scotland and from there he picked up the game playing alongside his Dad.
Alongside his golf, MacIntyre also played the traditional Scottish game shinty, something he has attributed to being ok with the hockey stick over in Canada this week!
MacIntyre also has a family that is of a sporting nature, with cousin Oscar currently playing professional football for Annan Athletic, while younger cousin Jacob is also on the books at Hibernian.

Robert MacIntyre’s early golf career
MacIntyre was a keen golfer from being a teenager and soon progressed into being in contention and then winning tournaments at amateur level.
The Scot won the Scottish Amateur two years in a row in 2015 and 2016 to cement himself as one of the top young players in Europe and soon caught the eye.
MacIntyre spent a year over the USA at McNeese State University, where he again impressed.
He then represented the UK and Ireland at the Walker Cup in 2017, impressing in his singles matches as he beat Cameron Champ before halving the second match with the American. MacIntyre also won his foursomes match, beating Doug Ghim and Maverick McNealy in doing so.
DP World Tour
MacIntyre’s superb performances on the Challenge Tour ensured he earned his spot on the European Tour/DP World Tour for the 2019 season.
From there, the Scot simply went from strength to strength as he impressed with some wonderful performances early on.
He secured a second place finish at the British Masters and then later in the year, making his majors debut, finished an impressive sixth at The Open.
MacIntyre need only wait until late 2020 until he nabbed his first European Tour win as he won in Cyprus.
However, it would be 2022 until we saw MacIntyre win again, this time, seeing off Matt Fitzpatrick in a playoff to take the Italian Open.
MacIntyre then continued to impress and in 2023, was part of the European Ryder Cup winning team in Rome before he sealed his PGA Tour card for the 2024 season by finishing in the top 20 in Dubai in November last year.
PGA Tour
MacIntyre has been playing PGA Tour events for more than four years now but it is only this season where he has gone all in with a PGA Tour card.
This season, MacIntyre has had an up and down season, playing 15 events and missing the cut on seven occasions.
His best finish in 2024 came back February in Mexico. Since then, he’s managed and 8th at the Zurich Classic and he managed to match that feat at the PGA Championships a few weeks back.
MacIntyre was actually cut from the Charles Schwab Challenge last week before roaring into the form at Hamilton in the Canadian Open this week.

Robert MacIntyre’s career earnings
MacIntyre isn’t short of a penny or two and has racked up a fair few million playing golf.
According to the DP World Tour’s website, MacIntyre won $8.4m on during his near seven seasons on the tour.
MacIntyre has also added a cool $3.6m to his earnings since moving to the PGA Tour.
It’s safe to say, then, that MacIntyre is more than comfortable.
