Rickie Fowler is the highest-profile name set to compete in this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson.
Fowler has taken an extended break from the game upon the conclusion of the PGA Tour season. Fowler missed the FedEx Cup playoffs after finishing outside the top 70.
In fact, Fowler’s last outing came at the Open Championship, where he placed 71st on 13 over par.
It’s been a tough 12 months for the 35-year-old since narrowly missing out at the 2023 US Open at LACC. Fowler has been struggling with yips and has now made several equipment changes ahead of this week’s PGA Tour Fall event.
Rickie Fowler details iron change ahead of Sanderson Farms Championship

The world number 70 isn’t afraid to change with what’s in his bag. Fowler carried two four irons at the Scottish Open, and the 35-year-old has now explained why he’s tinkered with his irons once more this week.
“Yeah, got a few things. From the irons, they’re just a black version of the same Cobra King Tours that I was playing, just a different colour. I thought they looked a little bit better. Put those straight in,” Fowler explained.
The American also revealed he’s testing out a new LAB putter. “About the extended time at home, I had a little extra time to be able to do some more testing with a LAB putter and saw a lot of good things from it,” Fowler added.
“Like I said, I liked what I saw at home, so I am giving that a test run this week. Hopefully, we continue to see good things.”
Rickie Fowler is the latest PGA Tour star to test mini-driver
Rory McIlroy used a mini driver at the RBC Heritage, and Fowler is testing out the new Taylormade product as a replacement for his three-wood.
“Outside of that, I had a mini-driver from TaylorMade, so basically, it was a replacement for 3-wood,” Fowler added.
“Feel like it’s something very beneficial off the tee, especially at a golf course like this, so I’ve seen, again, a lot of good benefits from it.”
With Fowler outside the world’s top 60, the 35-year-old will no doubt be looking to boost his ranking ahead of the 2025 major season getting underway.
