The Procore Championship took place last weekend, the first PGA Tour event since the Tour Championship in August.

A few top players often compete at the tournament to shake off some rust three weeks after the season finale.

However, this year was different as 10 of the 12 United States Ryder Cup players used it to prepare for Bethpage Black.

This drew more attention to the event, which the tournament organizers would have enjoyed, but it was not all positive.

Famous YouTube golfer Rick Shiels recently criticized the golf course at the Procore Championship on his podcast.

Rick Shiels slams the Procore Championship golf course

The golf course for the annual Procore Championship is at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California.

Not every PGA Tour event can be hosted by an iconic venue, such as Pebble Beach or TPC Sawgrass, but there are plenty of solid options.

Shiels was amazed by the Tour’s decision to hold an event at the Silverado Resort after watching the tournament on television last weekend.

“Did you see that golf course? It looked horrendous, honestly,” he slammed the Procore Championship course.

“We were watching it up in Scotland, and I was looking at it, going, ‘What is this place?’ It looked like the most average golf course.

“To be honest, the highlights online look better, but there were some really, really wacky holes they were playing.”

Scottie Scheffler’s opinion on the Procore Championship golf course

Scottie Scheffler won the Procore Championship ahead of USA teammate Ben Griffin on Sunday, so the golf course clearly did not cause him many problems.

However, the world number one did mention after the first round that the greens at the Silverado Resort were “pretty challenging” to putt on.

“Well, you’ve got to get the ball in the fairway,” he assessed the course. “There is a little bit of quirkiness to the golf course, especially as it firms up.

“The greens can be pretty challenging, and late in the day, it can get fairly bumpy, especially with the amount of pitch on these greens.”

“So the greens were pretty difficult to putt, and I kind of found myself on the wrong side of the hole a few times.”
