Never one to be shy of an opinion when it comes to the big golf news, YouTube Rick Shiels has said he was hoping for someone else to win the PGA Championship over Xander Schauffele.
Schauffele holed out on 18 to fend off a resurgent Bryson DeChambeau by one shot, while Viktor Hovland’s return to form ended with him fluffing his lines on the last.
Of course, there’s been plenty of reaction to Schauffele’s win and in the main, there’s a lot of happiness over him finally winning a major.

However, while Schauffele is a popular winner among some, Rick Shiels has said that deep down, he was really rooting for another American to take home the win.

Speaking on the latest episode of his Rick Shiels Golf Show, Shiels admitted he was actually pulling for Bryson DeChambeau when it came to final round.
“I was fascinated about the final round because there were guys up there that I really, really wanted to win. I would have loved to have seen Bryson DeChambeau win, he put on such an incredible display of golf on that final round,” Shiels said.
“His short game, albeit his driving was sensational, but his short game was unbelievable.
“He was up and down from everywhere. He birdied the last hole to set a marker at 20 under par but his golf was amazing.”

A lot has been made of DeChambeau since the weekend, and rightly so.
Not only was his golf sensational to watch but he also pulled the crowd along with him and showed the PGA Tour that they’re missing a real star attraction since he moved to LIV Golf.
Fans on social media noticed how DeChambeau seemed to have the crowd on his side, while Smylie Kauffman has said that there’s been a big change in the American recently.
All this can only lead to DeChambeau getting more and more popular and with that, good rounds of golf should follow.
Of course, Shiels has recently shot videos with him and the affiliation is there. But Shiels wasn’t the only one in the UK pulling for DeChambeau, and that just proves the draw he has.
