Richard Bland has made a surprise admission about the standard of LIV Golf compared to the DP World Tour.
Since the league’s inception, there’s been a general consensus in the golfing world that the PGA Tour and DP World Tour are still better in quality overall.
Of course, LIV has some massive names, yet some players are in the twilight of their careers and are not performing at peak levels.
Bland, however, disagrees.
Richard Bland lauds the standard of LIV Golf compared to the DP World Tour

The Englishman hasn’t been afraid to nail his colours to the LIV Golf mast. Bland recently claimed LIV actively seeks feedback from the players, which isn’t commonplace on the traditional tours.
And now, the 51-year-old has made a suggestion about the standard of LIV that will undoubtedly anger the more traditionalist golf fan.
“I’ve got more of an edge, competitively, playing here than I would have playing on the DP World Tour,” said Bland.
He added, “That’s not to put the DP World Tour down or bad-mouth it in any way. My personal opinion is just that the standard here is higher—a lot higher.”
LIV Golf still has work to do to compete with the PGA Tour
Bland’s claim that LIV is better than the DP World Tour does have some truth. However, the league has a long way to go before being considered the game’s elite competition.
Adding more stops and tailoring the schedule to suit the major championship season seems like the next move to raise the overall standard.
Jon Rahm explained that he wants a links event added before The Open, and this seems like something that should become more commonplace.
LIV needs to look attractive to PGA Tour players who are perhaps contemplating making a change, and right now, in its current guise, the product and overall standard aren’t enticing enough.
