Scottie Scheffler is absolutely running away with the CJ Cup Byron Nelson after three days of play.
Scheffler seems to be in ominous form heading into major season, and a win at CJ Cup Byron Nelson would send out a serious statement to his main rival Rory McIlroy.
It has been a tough week in McKinney, Texas, with rain wreaking havoc with the PGA Tour event at TPC Craig Ranch.
However, the stop-start nature of the week clearly hasn’t affected the 28-year-old American.
Scheffler broke his own records during the first two days of CJ Cup Byron Nelson, by shooting his lowest ever tally over the first two rounds and ending up leading the field in strokes gained with a staggering +14.59.

Now he needs to see out the final day to secure his first win of 2025, which he undoubtedly will do.
However, the crowds might not be as large as some may have expected them to be.
Revelation about CJ Cup Byron Nelson crowds with Scottie Scheffler dominating
Scheffler heads into the final day with a whopping eight shot lead, and by the time Monday comes around, he will undoubtedly be a 14-time PGA Tour winner.
However, the numbers coming through the doors at TPC Craig Ranch may have suffered as a result.
Rich Beem was performing his on-course commentary gig for Sky Sports in the UK on Saturday, and he noticed something rather bizarre about the crowds at TPC Craig Ranch.

Beem said, “You know it’s been good, but I get the sense that some of the folks are losing their lustre a little bit. I feel like the crowds are thinning out a bit. I mean the weather is gorgeous right now, as it has been all day, but it’s kind of er, losing it’s lustre a little bit.“
Given that Scheffler is a local boy, you would have thought the crowds would have stayed to the end, regardless of the fact that it became somewhat of a procession midway through the third round.
PGA Tour and LIV crowds compared after Bryson DeChambeau comments
LIV is over in South Korea this week.
DeChambeau suggested that the crowds during LIV events remind him of major championships, before the tournament began.
And in fairness, the fans turned up to The Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in their numbers.
It would be interesting to see the attendance numbers from both events.
However, when the week is finishes, the PGA Tour will undoubtedly have higher TV viewing figures than LIV Golf.
Hopefully the McKinney crowds turn out in their numbers to see Scheffler pick up the win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
