Rory McIlroy is a grand slam champion after winning The Masters ahead of Justin Rose and it looks like it’s worldwide news across everything as a number of high-profile celebs reacted to his win.
McIlroy’s dramatic playoff win capped off a remarkable Sunday at Augusta National where he threw away a four shot lead before finally seeing Justin Rose off on the 18th in a playoff.
And while the golf world reacted to the win, with Phil Mickelson praising McIlroy and the likes of Padraig Harrington getting in on the act as well, there were some even higher profile names reacting as well.
With golf being the worldwide sport it is, celebrities from all walks of life took time out to send messages and react to Rory’s win.

Adam Sandler and Rafael Nadal react to Rory McIlroy’s Masters win
Rory McIlroy is a major celebrity in his own right and with that celebrity come friends in high places as well.
McIlroy is known across the world and not only in the golfing community. And over on X, a number of big names responded to his win.
Tennis great Rafa Nadal was among them, as he sent his well-wishes to McIlroy.
Another superstar in the world of sport to react to McIlroy’s win was Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
Outside of sport, things turned to Hollywood next, as popular golf fan and actor in the Happy Gilmore series, Adam Sandler, also got in on the act.
While in a more serious post, actor Matthew McConaughey praised McIlroy for overcoming the odds and finally getting it done.
How Rory McIlroy proved Sir Nick Faldo wrong at The Masters
The Masters has produced some stunning moments over the years but this one with McIlroy winning will be remembered for some time.
As well as the story of his career grand slam, there was also the drama and the tension involved in one of the most exciting rounds of golf for years.
Of course, many remember Tiger Woods’ win in 2019 as the ultimate Masters memory.
However, Sir Nick Faldo has said that McIlory’s win has even topped that.
“I will tell you what. I said when Tiger won [in 2019], I blurted out how we will never see a scene like this again at The Masters. I am very pleased to say that I am wrong. Because that for a man to win the Grand Slam after so much heartache for 10 plus years now and how he has dealt with it and produced it today in the most riveting and agonising emotions we have all ever been through,” he said.
“I want to give him a smack round the face for that! But also a big kiss! Because that is unbelievable.”
McIlroy already has The Players in the bag alongside The Masters and his win at Pebble Beach in 2025 and as it stands, he’s on course for a Scottie Scheffler like year.
