Rory McIlroy finally laid his demons to rest on the 18th hole at Augusta National, winning The Masters in a play-off against Justin Rose.
The exclusive Grand Slam club now has a new member in the form of Rory McIlroy, after he won The Masters despite numerous setbacks on the final day around Augusta National.
What a day for McIlroy. His fifth major came 11 years after his fourth but boy, was that wait worth it.
Phil Mickelson has three green jackets to his name, but he’s still one short of winning the Grand Slam.
Before the tournament began, Phil Mickelson said Rory McIlroy was more than capable of winning The Masters.
And now Phil has sent a message to Rory after his exceptional victory at Augusta.

Phil and Rory haven’t always seen eye to eye.
There was definitely tension between the two when Mickelson left the PGA Tour to join LIV back in 2022.
McIlroy has always been very outspoken regarding his opinions on LIV, and the same can be said for Mickelson when it comes to the PGA Tour.
With that in mind, many people wondered whether Phil would congratulate Rory at all, if he did indeed win The Masters.

Rory became only the second man to complete the Grand Slam at Augusta, after Gene Sarazen did it in 1935.
The Northern Irishman now definitely has legendary status, if he didn’t already.
Rory McIlroy is finally a Masters champion.
And Phil Mickelson was clearly very happy for him.
