Phil Mickelson seems to be on one of his now regular social media sprees and he’s now used his time to take a pot shot at both the PGA Tour and commissioner, Jay Monahan.

Mickelson has been more than vocal in the past about some of the issues he has with the PGA Tour and it influenced his decision to move to LIV Golf, not to mention the huge sums on offer as well.

Still, whatever happened between Mickelson and the PGA Tour prior to him leaving clearly still stings.

Now, after Monahan commented on and defended Rory McIlroy missing the Memorial Tournament, Mickelson has seized his chance to have a dig at the TOUR.

Phil Mickelson aims dig at Jay Monahan and the PGA Tour after Rory McIlroy comments

Prior to the Memorial taking place, Commissioner Monahan has been speaking to the press and was questioned about Rory McIlroy’s decision to opt out of Muirfield.

Monahan defended McIlroy, suggesting the PGA Tour allows for such decisions.

“You look at the beauty of our model is that our players have the ability to select their schedule. Rory McIlroy I think has played this tournament every year since 2017 and you look at the tournaments he has supported, I don’t have any concern because you look at this, on balance, over time, his support of our tournaments and our partners is extraordinary,” Monahan said.

However, while some might agree with Monahan’s comments, Mickelson has seized the moment once again and responded on social media.

With Mickelson clearly still holding a grudge against the PGA Tour, it seems unlikely we’ll ever see him back involved regularly if any sort of deal is done.

Indeed, right now, it looks like Mickelson has basically washed his hands of the TOUR.

Phil Mickelson seemingly willing to die on his hill against the PGA Tour

This is absolutely not the first time Mickelson has criticised the PGA Tour and he is very much in a position where he’s made his bed and he’s willing to lie in it.

Mickelson slammed the TOUR over the Wesley Bryan suspension recently, while Mickelson has also claimed LIV Golf do better fan experiences than the TOUR as well.

Furthermore, Mickelson also took a shot at the TOUR this time last year, accusing them of breaking the game and things being a monopoly they control.

With all this being said and Mickelson carrying on the war of words, it seems like his time with the PGA Tour is well and truly done.
