Phil Mickelson calls out the PGA Tour as Wesley Bryan receives suspension for competing in LIV Golf event

Phil Mickelson has criticized the PGA Tour’s decision to hand Wesley Bryan an indefinite suspension.

Bryan – a PGA Tour member – has competed in 134 events in his career and earned over $5 million in prize money.

He’s also a popular content creator, with over 500,000 subscribers on the Bryan Bros Golf YouTube channel, which he shares with his brother George.

So, it made sense that Wesley took part in the PGA Tour Creator Classic, alongside the likes of Grant Horvat and Fat Perez.

However, Bryan also decided to participate in LIV Golf’s version of the event, The Duels, which has led to serious consequences.

Phil Mickelson reacts to Wesley Bryan’s PGA Tour suspension

LIV Golf’s Duels event took place earlier this month at Trump National Doral, with Sergio Garcia and George Bryan winning via a playoff.

It was an entertaining event, streamed on Horvat’s YouTube channel, which plenty of golf fans around the world enjoyed.

The issue for Wesley was that the PGA Tour didn’t take too well to him promoting their biggest rivals.

So, they responded by dealing Bryan an indefinite suspension, which has caused mixed opinions in the golfing world.

One man who vehemently disagrees with the move is six-time major champion Phil Mickelson.

He commented on X: “Here’s a question. Normally when an entity violates independent contract law, they deny that it happened and forces the contractor/individual to prove that it did.

“In this case, the PGA Tour blatantly admits they are illegally banning an independent contractor so why doesn’t the DOJ step in and enforce the law? Why does the individual have to sue to enforcer the law? DOJ do your fffing job!”

Has Wesley Bryan won on the PGA Tour?

Bryan competed on the PGA Tour as recently as March, in the Puerto Rico Open – his third event of the 2025 season.

The suspension will definitely be a big blow to the 35-year-old. However, at least he’s already achieved the career goal of winning on the tour.

Indeed, Bryan won the RBC Heritage back in 2017, finishing one shot ahead of former world number one Luke Donald.

He also has nine top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour in an impressive career, which he surely hopes isn’t over yet.
