The PGA and LPGA Tours crossed paths at the Grant Thornton Invitational in Florida this week.

The tournament is always popular with players and fans because it offers something different from regular events.

And there were several high-profile pairings this year, including Nelly Korda and Denny McCarthy, and Lydia Ko and Jason Day.

Charley Hull also participated alongside a recent PGA Tour winner, who admitted that she had carried him.

Charley Hull outplayed Michael Brennan at the Grant Thornton Invitational

Michael Brennan won his first PGA Tour event at the Bank of Utah Championship in October.

This moved him into the top 40 in the Official World Golf Ranking and set him up for a big 2026 season.

Brennan’s victory was also probably the main reason he was asked to compete in the Grant Thornton Invitational.

The 23-year-old was then rewarded with the opportunity to play with one of the best female golfers in the world, Charley Hull.

Brennan and Hull set the tournament record for the lowest score in the first-round scramble format, with a 17-under-par 55.

However, their performance levels dipped slightly in the next two rounds, and they ultimately finished in a tie for second.

“Yeah, the week was amazing,” Brennan reflected. “I found out Monday I was playing, and I appreciate Charley saying that I was OK being her partner for the week. I had great fun. It was a great week.”

Brennan also admitted that Hull carried him in the final round, and they would have been lower down the leaderboard without her stellar play.

“Yeah, Charley’s a baller,” he continued. “I didn’t really have my best stuff today, really loose with the irons, but she kept us in it pretty much single-handedly, so it was pretty impressive.”

Charley Hull has work to do after Grant Thornton Invitational

Despite Michael Brennan’s compliments, Charley Hull was not best pleased with her performance at the Grant Thornton.

Hull has enjoyed an excellent 2025 season, led by her standout iron play, but she did not have her A-game this week.

“Yeah, like I’ve been hitting it really well all year, like my iron play’s been unbelievable,” she said. “And just this week, it’s been pretty poor; my iron play has.

“I’ve done a lot of work on my swing. I tried doing it last week, and my feel wasn’t quite there this week, and I just played with what I had.

“I’ll just go home, a couple of days off, and then practice because I enjoy doing that.”
