Injuries are part of any sport but there’s some potentially shocking news coming out regarding one PGA Tour player this weekend.

As we’ve seen in golf, injuries can really hamper a career and you needn’t look further than Tiger Woods for examples of how they can affect your game.

This season as well, we’ve seen Jordan Spieth go under the knife to correct issues, while Billy Horschel has admitted to not being 100% prior to the BMW PGA this weekend.

Still, those injuries could pale in comparison after what’s happened to young Australian star, Jeff Guan.

Jeff Guan suffers ‘awful’ eye injury after making PGA Tour debut

A report from the Australian Golf Digest has today claimed that the talented Australian golfer Jeff Guan has suffered a really bad eye injury at a Pro-Am event.

It’s claimed that Guan was hit by a loose tee-shot during the event and is suspected to have multiple fractures around his eye.

Indeed, there are even suggestions he could suffer permanent damage and with it, place his future in the game in doubt.

His coach and mentor, Paul Davis, has suggested the injury is really bad, albeit they are hoping for good news.

“Obviously there are fears he may lose some vision but we won’t know the full extent until he goes to Sydney for further assessment,” Davis told Australian Golf Digest.

“It’s truly awful … this was actually the first pro-am Jeff has ever played in. It’s just the worst possible news after such an amazing week in California.”

Guan only made his debut on the PGA Tour last weekend when he played at the Procore.

He missed the cut but at just 20, Guan is widely considered one of the top rising stars in Australian sport right now.

Everyone in golf, then, will be praying his eye can be fixed and that in the future, he can look back on this and laugh.
