The Ryder Cup is rapidly approaching, with Keegan Bradley closing in on his captain’s picks for the US team.

Bradley will make his Ryder Cup picks next week, following the conclusion of the Tour Championship at East Lake.

He is in the field for the final FedExCup Playoffs event on the PGA Tour, having finished T44 and T17 at the St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship respectively.

Six American Ryder Cup players are confirmed after the conclusion of the latter event, with six captain’s picks to follow.

One final chance to impress Bradley now arrives at East Lake, where a handful of Ryder Cup hopefuls are also involved.

PGA Tour player who’s beaten Keegan Bradley recently discusses his Ryder Cup chances

One such hopeful is Maverick McNealy, who hasn’t won on the PGA Tour this season, but his impressive run involves one runner-up finish and seven top 10s.

And Bradley has watched McNealy up close, with the duo having been paired together for rounds one and two of the St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship.

Speaking of his Ryder Cup chances after being reminded of those pairings, he told Golf Channel: “The Ryder Cup has been in the back of my mind the entire year.

“There is no escaping that when the captain is the guy you are paired with. I was really excited to play four really solid rounds, but it’s actually seven this year I have been fortunate to play with Keegan.

“He’s playing great in his own right, but I want to put my best foot forward. You can’t really make the team in those rounds, but you can put your best foot forward and comport yourself like a guy who would put some points up there.

“Aside from winning I think the tournament I played last week is about as good as I could have done to help my chances.”

Maverick McNealy picks his ‘best asset’ ahead of potential Ryder Cup debut

Intriguingly, McNealy has beaten Bradley in their four rounds together in the first two events of the FedExCup Playoffs.

The one-time PGA Tour winner went on to finish T28 at the St. Jude Championship and third at the BMW Championship, and now sits 10th in the FedExCup standings.

Discussing what he would bring to Bethpage Black on debut, McNealy noted: “All I really want to bring is points. I think, at the end of the day, that is what I want to put on the board.

“I think my best asset in matchplay is my putter because I know the strength to my game always comes at the end of the hole so I am never out of it.

“And you know there is going to be a huge, huge putt at some point in your match and it’s nice to know the best part of my game is going to be there for me.”

Currently 10th in the American Ryder Cup qualifying rankings, he has missed out on an automatic spot for the team event next month.

He is, however, one spot ahead of the captain in the list, and is likely to cement his place with another strong showing at the Tour Championship this week.
