The PGA of America have confirmed that Keegan Bradley will captain Team USA at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

The 38-year-old, who has six PGA Tour titles to his name, takes over the prestigious role from Zach Johnson.

Johnson was unsuccessful in his captaincy, with Team Europe defeating Team USA 16.5-11.5 in Rome in September 2023.

The losing side has now decided to switch things up ahead of the event at Farmingdale, New York next September.

Bradley has never served as part of the backroom team, and was not selected as a captain’s pick for the 2023 edition.

Michael Kim makes Team USA Ryder Cup claim after Keegan Bradley decision

He does, however, have plenty of experience in the competition, having made his Ryder Cup debut back in 2012.

Upon the announcement, PGA Tour player Michael Kim has predicted how the tournament in New York will unfold.

“Super interesting that Keegan will get the captaincy,” Kim wrote on X. “There will be no ‘boys club’ talk at the next Ryder Cup haha.

“To be honest at Bethpage, I think Americans have a pretty big advantage from the course already.”

Tiger Woods was seemingly in contention for the role, but decided not to take it on, with the official decision from Team USA on Bradley leaving US golf fans baffled.

Team USA make big change for 2025 Ryder Cup

Bradley has a huge task on his hands to avoid back-to-back defeats, with the pressure on his shoulders increased given that Team USA are playing at home.

His appointment represents a major switch-up, with the PGA of America usually opting for experience with their captaincy picks.

The likes of recent captains Johnson, Jim Furyk and Davis Love III all previously served as assistant captains in at least one Ryder Cup.

Moreover, Bradley will be 39 at the time of the first tee-off, making him the youngest Ryder Cup captain since Arnold Palmer (34) in 1963.

In stark contrast, Team Europe have stuck with Luke Donald, who will once more be supported by vice-captains Thomas Bjorn and Edoardo Molinari.
