Tony Finau’s reported move to LIV Golf has sparked speculation among fans, journalists and other professionals.
Finau’s withdrawal from the Hero World Challenge has thrown his PGA Tour future into doubt after rumours emerged over the weekend.
Finau now looks set to sign for LIV and become the latest high-profile name to join the Saudi-backed venture. The American, however, might be the beginning of a more significant player exodus.
Adam Scott and Belgian Thomas Detry have also been rumoured to be on the move. Now, SI journalist Matt Vincenzi has told fans to “buckle up”, with a potentially massive couple of weeks in store.
PGA-LIV Golf change is about to happen

Taking to X on Monday evening, Vincenzi initially told his followers to brace themselves before also admitting he knows the inside track of what’s happening behind the scenes.
“I know too much to be able to speculate with good intentions,” he wrote.
Vincenzi then revealed that “a lot” will take place over the coming weeks. “Just think there will be a lot going on in golf over the next week or two,” he added.

PGA Tour U players in line for LIV Golf move
The Sports Illustrated correspondent also confirmed that LIV Golf is looking to pursue moves for some of the PGA Tour U’s most promising young talent.
“GM confirmed to me that is one place teams are pursuing. Whether they land one, not sure,” he wrote whilst responding to a question on X.
The recent rumours come as the PGA Tour and the PIF attempt to thrash out a deal that would end the current divide within professional golf.
Reports last month claimed the PIF is set to invest $1bn into the PGA Tour and receive two chairmanship positions. Yet, with LIV targeting more PGA Tour players, a resolution could still be a long way off.
With Finau and potentially more high-profile names making breakaway league moves, the PGA Tour must act fast to prevent what could end up being a mass exodus.
