YouTube golf has become a permanent fixture for most golf fans over the past two to three years.
The rise of Bryson DeChambeau, along with favourites Rick Shiels, Peter Finch, and Grant Horvat, has made YouTube golf an established part of the sport.
Professional tours have also taken note. The PGA Tour hosted the Creator Classic before the Tour Championship at East Lake, and LIV Golf players are seemingly encouraged to use the platform; Phil Mickelson intends to grow his channel this year.
There was also The Q at Myrtle Beach, which gave 16 YouTube golfers the chance to earn a spot at a PGA Tour event.
Peter Finch discusses what’s next for YouTube golf

After the success of the Creator Classic, YouTube star Finch has discussed the prospect of a ‘creator league’ emerging in the coming months.
“All I know, within the past year, there’s been a lot of conversations going on about how this could work with a lot of different people,” Finch told the Rough Cut Podcast.
“The format and everything else behind it has not been formulated yet. It hasn’t come to fruition. I imagine it will. It’s one of the next logical steps for YouTube golf. To have such a fantastic audience and so many people who engage within the videos.
“To give them something to watch in this kind of format. What that’s going to be, I don’t know. Obviously, it would be great to be involved in it as well. There’s so many different things to put together; it’s kind of crazy.”
Shiels, arguably YouTube golf’s OG, has suggested big news is coming soon, leading to speculation about a new creator league.
PGA Tour ramp-up efforts to engage with YouTube stars
The PGA Tour ramped up its efforts to engage with the YouTube world after an announcement emerged at the start of December.
The formation of the Creator Council will see ten popular content creators regularly meet with communications and marketing teams from the PGA Tour.
Essentially, the meetings are being held to open up more content development opportunities and improve fan engagement. The Creator Council consists of Bob Does Sports, Bryan Bros Golf, Erik Anders Lang, Fore Play/Barstool Sports, No Laying Up, Paige Spiranac, Roger Steele, and Tisha Alyn.
