Whatever you think of Phil Mickelson, there is no doubting at all that the six-time major champion is one of the most fascinating characters the game has ever seen.
Phil Mickelson was not only the most consistent rival of Tiger Woods’ career, but he was also one of the players who could leave fans baffled for all sorts of reasons. Every golf fan can recall Mickelson producing a moment of magic with a shot from a position he had absolutely no reason to find himself in.
Whether it is from the pine needles on the 13th at Augusta National, or the hospitality area at The Barclays, Lefty has managed to get himself in all kinds of trouble over the years – and usually finds his way out with minimal fuss.
Mickelson damaged his reputation with how his move to LIV Golf was handled. But he still remains one of the most popular figures the game has. So it is no surprise at all that the 54-year-old’s YouTube channel had already comfortably passed 100,000 subscribers before he had even uploaded his third video.
Phil Mickelson shares what he’s planning for his YouTube channel
Of course, Bryson DeChambeau has seen enormous success on the platform. And it seems that Mickelson is planning to focus more of his attention on his YouTube channel.

Speaking during his match with Grant Horvat, the HyFlyers captain explained what he plans to do with his channel moving forward.
“So in the future on my channel, we’re going to have some backyard tips where I start sharing, there’s three levels of chipping, right. Chipping 101, and then you have chipping 401 where it’s the next level, and then you have a masterclass or a masters edition where all the subtleties and nuances of the short game start to come out. So you have to learn the basics. But to be able to hit the shot back there, you start playing with ball position, you start playing with club face, you start playing with weight, you start coming in different angles, and it’s stuff I’m not going to share to the beginners, and so, we’ll have them scroll away. But there’s some guys, tour level players, that still [want to hear that stuff],” he said.
“Yeah, so there’s a bunch of stories from a lot of players that I want to share. So we’ll tell you some, I’ll let them tell them too. There’s some stories that I probably don’t want out there, but I’m happy for them to share, so those will be like Coffee with Phil; we’ll sit around, have coffee, and let them tell stories, and I’ll tell stories about them, and things that have gone on over the last 20, 30 years that no-one’s heard.”
Mickelson posting short game videos is guaranteed to be a success
You would imagine that Mickelson’s short game videos, in particular, will attract a lot of interest. Few players in the game seem to have the kind of imagination that he has had. Everyone who has picked up a club has probably attempted the backward shot because of Mickelson.
The problem is how easy Mickelson makes chipping look. You could take every piece of advice that he offers and still find yourself with nothing like the touch that he has had throughout his career.
But that probably will not stop the masses tuning in in the hope that Mickelson can transform their short game.
