The PGA Tour’s inaugural Creator Classic took place at East Lake last week as Luke Kwon claimed the much-sought-after title.

YouTube’s finest proved Xander Schauffele and Ludvig Aberg wrong on East Lake’s back nine after four players finished under par in tricky conditions.

YouTube stalwart Peter Finch also participated and narrowly missed out on the playoff hole, which took place on the 18th.

Overall, the Atlanta event was a success, but Finch has highlighted a couple of alterations he would like to see if it returns for a second edition.

Speaking in the latest edition of the Rough Cut Podcast, Finch named some of the aspects which could be improved moving forward.

“More people [participating]. Trying to find a date where all the biggest creators could be there, definitely,” Finch explained. “Having more screen time, everybody mic’d up and having a great amount of cameras there and coverage. Having the play more closely monitored in terms of speed. It took quite a long time to get through those eight holes.”

Finch also suggested the number of adverts during the broadcast was particularly jarring.

“Less adverts as well,” Finch added. “They took a new event and commercialised it to the same degree as a PGA Tour event, which is a little bit jarring as it’s not what YouTube golf is about.”

The Creator Classic should be the start of further YouTube events

The PGA Tour has really jumped on the YouTube bandwagon in 2024, and it’s something which should hopefully continue moving forward.

The Creator Classic demonstrated the immense talent YouTube golf provides and also highlighted the level of interest. The viewing figures were impressive and matched the numbers LIV Golf amassed during its recent Greenbrier event.

Hopefully, the PGA Tour will take note and make this a more regular occurrence ahead of some of its most significant events.
