Few players have benefitted more from quitting the PGA Tour and signing for LIV Golf than Tyrrell Hatton.
Of course, the Englishman was by no means a pushover on golf’s traditional circuit. One PGA Tour victory and numerous DP World Tour titles meant Hatton was placed in high regard.
However, since joining the Saudi-backed venture, the 32-year-old’s game has reached new heights. Hatton has won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and Dubai Desert Classic since the end of the 2024 LIV season – and many believe Hatton will have a major breakthrough in 2025.
Hatton is now top of the European Ryder Cup standings and has an excellent chance of making Luke Donald’s team on merit. The 2025 Dubai Desert Classic champion won’t play another regular DP World Tour event until next September’s event at Bethpage.
What Peter Finch has said about Tyrrell Hatton’s golf game

At times, Hatton’s explosive outbursts have received criticism and perhaps detract from his evident elite-level golfing ability.
In a recent podcast, YouTube golf personality Peter Finch discussed Hatton’s latest victory and shared his observations about the 32-year-old while playing alongside him.
“He’s won a lot, he’s a great player, and he often gets a bit overlooked,” Finch explained.
“Obviously, his temperament and he has these outbursts. I think people see him as a bit of a comic character, so it’s a little bit easier to overlook his play. Also, he’s got a bit of a funky swing. It’s not classic, but he strikes it best. I’ve played with him a few times; he’s probably one of the best putters I’ve seen. Every time he sets up, he doesn’t look like he’s going to miss.”
When is Tyrrell Hatton playing next?
Hatton’s stint on the DP World Tour is over for now. The Englishman will now prepare for the LIV Golf League, which begins in Riyadh in February.
The eight-time DP World Tour winner will no doubt look back on his 2024 European Tour stint fondly. Hatton played eleven events and missed just one cut.
Before the turn of the year, Hatton won once, finished runner-up once, and placed in the top ten three times. He earned $2.8m in prize money. Hatton also pocketed $1.5m after his victory at Emirates Golf Club on Sunday.
However, both figures are a drop in the ocean compared to Hatton’s earnings during the LIV Golf season.
