Scottie Scheffler heads into The Masters as the defending champion once more, having clinched the green jacket in 2024.
Ryan Lavner has named Scheffler as his top Masters contender, with the latter also winning the major in 2022.
Scheffler was embarrassed by his four-putt en route to that first success at The Masters, which represented his first major championship win.
His second came at Augusta last year, with a four-stroke win over Ludvig Aberg following his three-stroke win over Rory McIlroy in 2022.
Scheffler leads the world rankings going into the tournament, but is yet to win from his six starts on the PGA Tour in 2025.

Peter Finch backs Rory McIlroy to beat Scottie Scheffler at The Masters
In contrast, world number two McIlroy has two wins to his name, and is now being backed by Peter Finch to win The Masters.
Picking his Augusta champion for The Rough Cut Golf Podcast, Finch said: “Rory. I am going to go there and I am going to preface this with obviously a huge, it’s The Masters, it’s Rory, on paper should do it.
“Has to do it, you would feel at some point in his career. But there is no guarantee. But at some point you feel that the dam has to break.
“At some point you feel something has to fall into place within his own mind that says you know what I can do this.
“This has to be the best chance he has had in so long. He is playing so well. He is not going into this major with this barrage of weird things that he is doing.

“Before every Masters he always comes up with something. I’ve changed my putter, I’m on a new diet, there is always something he is trying to adapt.
“While this year he has had an alteration in his swing at the start of the year. He is looking good. He is swinging great. This has to be it.
“I don’t want to get emotionally invested here, but every time he pulls me in. If he is a fisherman he knows the bait to pull me in!”
What is Rory McIlroy’s Masters history at Augusta National?
Scheffler will be hoping that history very much repeats itself this year as he looks to become a three-time Masters champion.
But that won’t be the case for McIlroy, who while impressing at various editions has always failed to get over the line.

His best result came via a solo second finish in 2022, when Scheffler was simply unstoppable at Augusta.
But McIlroy will not be paying much attention to what his rival or any other player will be doing this week, with an elusive Masters title certainly on the cards for the Northern Irishman.
