Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the Hero World Challenge sent an ominous message to some of the world’s best golfers ahead of the 2025 PGA Tour season.
Scheffler‘s ninth win of 2024 came after a two-month hiatus from the course. The world number one never looked like he’d been away, however.
Deploying a new putting grip, the 28-year-old pulled away from Justin Thomas and Tom Kim, eventually finishing on 25 under after carding a nine-under 63.
Scheffler has now amassed over 700 world-ranking points in 2024 and looks set to dominate once more when the 2025 season starts at The Sentry in January.
Peter Finch’s 2025 Scottie Scheffler prediction

YouTube golf star Peter Finch is the latest to discuss Scheffler’s form, and the Englishman believes another dominant season is in store.
“He has now got no weaknesses,” Finch told the Rough Cut Podcast.
“It was last year [he had his putting weakness] because that’s what I based the 13 wins on this year. Because if he had an average PGA Tour putting year he would have won 13 times with the way he struck the ball.
“His ball striking has been like this for a few years. Now his putting is sorted. Or is getting better. Why wouldn’t he be able to carry it on? It’s not like his swing has changed or he is doing anything drastically different. He is just so good. I am going to go ten wins and two majors.”
Scottie Scheffler’s Hero World Challenge statistics
Unsurprisingly, Scheffler’s strokes gained stats are pretty concerning reading for those trying to compete with the world number one.
The American was the third-best off-the-tee in the field, gaining nearly five strokes. Furthermore, Scheffler gained 6.7 strokes when approaching the green, which was the best in the field by some distance.
| SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER STROKES GAINED – 2024 HERO WORLD CHALLENGE | TOTAL | RANK |
| SG: Off The Tee | 4.8013 | 3 |
| SG: Approach to Green | 6.7771 | 1 |
| SG: Around The Green | 1.3277 | 7 |
| SG: Putting | 3.8453 | 3 |
| SG: Total | 16.7501 | 1 |
Perhaps the most concerning stat centres around his putting, however. Scheffler gained 3.8 strokes on the greens and appears to have massively improved his putting over the past year.
If his flat stick remains hot, there’s a genuine chance Scheffler breaks his 2024 win tally, and by some distance.
