Charley Hull was one of the stars of the 2024 Solheim Cup despite Europe’s narrow defeat at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia.
The English star beat Nelly Korda 6&4 in the Sunday singles to get Europe’s comeback off to the perfect start.
Justin Rose backed Hull to beat the world number one, and the 28-year-old will no doubt be proud of her efforts in Virginia.
YouTube golf star Peter Finch has since spoken about Hull and admitted she’s perhaps a little misunderstood.

Hull has hit the headlines in recent times after being filmed smoking on the course, something Finch believes has been blown out of proportion.
“She is carving out a reputation, let’s put it that way. I think some people are on board with it; others might not be too keen,” Finch said on the latest edition of the Rough Cut Podcast.
“I know Charley a little bit; I have filmed with her and met her a few times; she is very much her own person. Is the best way of describing it, which is most cases is brilliant, especially for a golfer, you want these individuals within the game.
“I think a lot has been made of her smoking on the course, almost too much. Like it’s the most incredible thing which has ever happened in golf.”

Finch is right about Hull’s smoking habit. It’s been blown out of proportion for something that is entirely commonplace on golf courses around the world.
Thankfully, Korda saw the funny side of Hull’s smoking habit after the pair’s match on Sunday. Korda sent Hull a message after her crushing defeat, and it was humorous.
“Lol, thanks for the smokin’,” Korda commented underneath Hull’s Instagram post.
Hopefully, now that the golfing world has come to terms with Hull’s smoking habit, more focus can be put on her sensational ability, which is among the best the game has to offer.
