Patrick Reed has shared what he thinks will be amazing during this week’s LIV Golf Houston event.

The 2018 Masters winner is set to compete in his hometown – LIV’s first-ever event in Texas.

The Golf Club of Houston will be the stage for the breakaway tour’s first outing since the Singapore stop, where Brooks Koepka secured a record-breaking LIV Golf victory.

2024 hasn’t been overly kind to Reed compared to his first two seasons on the tour – and the 33-year-old would love nothing more to land his first victory of the year in Houston this week.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Houston event, Reed admitted he’s anticipating an “amazing” atmosphere this week.

He explained: “I’m really excited, especially playing at home. The fans, I feel like are going to be amazing. There is a lot of energy here with sports, and it should be a good turnout.
The biggest thing is having fans and people come out, not only supporting me but our team and supporting LIV.”

The American believes good numbers will turnout in Houston after previously experiencing home crowds during his time on the PGA Tour.

Reed added: “There has always been a decent turnout here when the PGA Tour has come here in the past, and just the energy of where I’m from and where I’m living, out in the woodlands, it feels like all them are coming out.”

LIV Golf need a big turnout in Houston this week

With the PGA Tour in Dublin for the signature Memorial Tournament, a big turnout is required at the Golf Club of Houston to ensure LIV gains some sort of traction this week.

Recent events in Singapore and Adelaide have been successful, with venture Down Under once again proving popular with the boisterous Aussie crowd.

LIV will now be hoping for a similar scenario in Texas as the breakaway tour looks to gain proper traction in the US.

It feels like a traditionalist stance is still present in the United States, with the PGA Tour still very much the driving force in American golf.

A popular event in Houston this week could see those who are on the fence over LIV’s presence finally side with Greg Norman’s venture.
