Footage has emerged of Patrick Reed moaning at one part of the course at JCB Golf and Country Club ahead of LIV Golf UK.

The unique Uttoxeter venue is set to provide an interesting test this week; Sergio Garcia can’t decide whether the scoring will be extremely high or extremely low.

Regardless of the potentially testing conditions, LIV Golf will be delighted with how the league has been received in the UK; the JCB event is all but sold out as Greg Norman’s venture proves ever-popular in Blighty.

Reed has never been shy about making headlines, and the American was at it again on Wednesday.

In a video posted by LIV Golf on X, Reed is seen throwing balls into the thick rough just to the left of one of the greens.

After his ball pretty much disappeared into the thick rough, the 33-year-old said he was less than impressed. “That’s just stupid,” he said. “Less than two yards off the green.”

JCB is unique both on and off the course

The thick rough, sloped greens and monstrous par threes are set to test players this week, but it’s not just on the course where JCB is unique.

JCB Golf and Country Club holds a relatively unusual place in the UK golfing scene. Its purpose is primarily to be used as a marketing tool and ultimately increase the sale of JCB products.

There are no traditional members of the course, with its membership entirely corporate. Companies receive a specific number of rounds each year for employees and guests to use. Furthermore, these businesses don’t need to be affiliated with JCB.

JCB employees can also play the course for a reasonable fee on Sunday afternoons. It’s not quite Augusta, but it can still be classed as one of the more exclusive properties in world golf.
