Jordan Spieth delivered an honest answer when asked about the prospect of LIV Golf players returning to play on the PGA Tour as talks with the PIF continue.
The PGA Tour’s transaction board met with the PIF in New York the day after the Memorial Tournament started at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
It’s believed Tiger Woods was present and that Rory McIlroy attended the meeting remotely.
Despite the latest round of talks, Jay Monahan has confirmed the two parties are still searching for a resolution, a year on from the bombshell framework agreement.

During his press conference ahead of the John Deere Classic, Spieth was tested with a difficult question on the current LIV Golf standoff.
The journalist asked: “Jordan, you’re on the policy board until the end of the year. Can you give us an idea of where these negotiations are? Can you see them coming to some resolution before the end of your time on the board? If so, what happens to LIV players who want to come back over?”
Spieth replied: “That’s an extremely loaded question that I could get in a lot of trouble answering, and I’ll just say things of this nature take a little bit of time, but they’re very active.
“I’d like to see it done right for everyone. So, the timing is the timing. Obviously, if anything can be done right and done sooner, that’s great. I would rather see it done correctly and done the right way going forward.”
It’s the same answers every single time
Clearly, the players have been instructed to give media-friendly answers every time they’re questioned about talks between the PIF and the PGA Tour.
Evidently, there are lots of considerations that are being dealt with, hence the time taken thus far.
But, for the game of golf, unity is now required.
The PGA Tour and LIV must use the recent boom after the US Open as a springboard to accelerate talks and bring the game back together.
Indeed, given the financial backing on both sides, there’s all players and sides to be content. The longer this goes on, the more and more damaging it will become.
