Patrick Reed says something is going to be ‘absolutely insane’ at LIV Golf Houston next week

LIV Golf star Patrick Reed has claimed something is going to be “absolutely insane” at the breakaway league’s Houston event next week.

The Golf Club of Houston, Humble, Texas, plays host to 54 holes of LIV action with a $20million individual prize purse up for grabs.

LIV Golf is making its first-ever appearance in Texas ahead of the season-ending team championship, taking place in Dallas on September 20.

Reed, who will be competing in a hometown event, has been speaking ahead of the Houston stop, and it’s fair to say the former Masters champion is excited.

Talking to LIV Golf’s official website, Reed has spoken of how anticipation is building in Houston ahead of the event.

“The crowds are going to be absolutely insane,” he explained. “I’ve been talking to so many people around here. And they’re all pumped and excited for it.”

The Golf Club of Houston used to be the home of the Houston Open and was typically used in the lead-up to the Masters at Augusta National.

Reed has admitted he’s excited to see the course when it’s not readied for Augusta-like conditions.

He added: “I’m really looking forward to actually seeing that golf course and how it’s supposed to be played. We get to actually show the beauty of that golf course.”

Bryson DeChambeau will be the main focus ahead of the event in Houston. The American is coming off his runner-up finish at the PGA Championship and will be heavily fancied.

Brook Koepka, after making history in Singapore, will also be looking to put in a good performance ahead of the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No.2, which gets underway on June 13.

Unlike the PGA Championship, LIV Golf stars will be in the midst of competitive golf the week before a major.

The extended break before the tournament at Valhalla perhaps caused more harm than good for the breakaway league players.

With the Houston stop coming immediately before the U.S. Open, more LIV players congregating near the top of the leaderboard at Pinehurst wouldn’t come as a surprise.
