Padraig Harrington says Rory McIlroy hit a shot on Masters Sunday that only he and Bryson DeChambeau are capable of hitting, it wasn’t on the 15th

Padraig Harrington was full of praise for Rory McIlroy after the 35-year-old completed the Grand Slam by winning The Masters.

Rory McIlroy overcame adversity to conquer Augusta National and claim his first ever green jacket at The Masters.

His dear friend Padraig Harrington was hugely impressed by how the Northern Irishman handled the numerous setbacks he faced on Masters Sunday.

Butch Harmon suggested that Rory McIlroy’s Masters victory was the most impactful win he has ever seen.

It was a truly special day at Augusta – one that will live long in the memories of golf fans the world over.

Padraig Harrington makes claim about Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau after world-class shot

Harrington has been speaking on the Indo Sport Podcast about McIlroy’s sensational victory at The Masters.

The three-time major champion was in awe of how McIlroy bounced back from some hugely disappointing moments on Sunday at Augusta.

And one shot in particular really caught his eye, but it wasn’t his towering approach into the 15th green.

17 was very interesting, he hit a very conservative tee shot. I wouldn’t have been able to play the hole that way. Justin Rose wasn’t able to play the hole that way. The reality is Justin Rose didn’t want 190 yards into the green on 17. Rory handled that because he’s one of the few players who can hit an iron into the clouds to get it to stop. Let’s face it, most players would have been hitting a six or seven iron from where Rory was. It was a very conservative play off the tee, but the second shot was the opposite. Himself and Bryson were the only two players int he field capable of hitting that shot.

The Ulsterman stands aloft as the greatest player of his generation.

The challenge for him now will be to keep winning more major and PGA Tour titles so that, one day, he will be considered as a top five player of all-time.
