Min Woo Lee is among the 60-strong field of men’s golfers who will take part in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Having staged the 2018 Ryder Cup, Le Golf National plays host to the event, which will get underway later this week.

Australian ace Lee heads into the tournament sitting 36th in the world rankings, having just missed the cut at The Open.

He will be keen to shake off that disappoint from Royal Troon at Le Golf National, but clinching a spot on the podium will not be easy.

The 26-year-old has made 13 of 15 cuts in 2024 so far, and has impressed with two runner-up finishes on the PGA Tour.

Lee finished tied second at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, with the same finish going his way at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

The Australian is now in Paris for his next event, with Lee currently enjoying the athlete experience in the French capital.

“The village was amazing,” Lee said in his pre-tournament press conference. “I got to hang out with all the tennis players. They love golf. I didn’t realize golf was that popular.

“A lot of people were asking for photos and swing tips and showing me their swings. It’s good. I like doing that.

“I think that was the best part of the village. We’re athletes in a sense we look after our diet, do this, the gym, blah, blah, blah.

“But they are on a different scale and it’s good to see them face-to-face, close, and see what they do, and a lot of like advice, questions that are asked, which normally we’re the athletes in our life.

“So it’s cool to be part of and around super athletes. Yeah, if we are considered, athletes, they are super athletes, so it’s good to know what they do.”

Can Min Woo Lee win Olympic gold?

A top three finish will be eyed by the 60 stars in France, but the gold medal is undoubtedly what the athletes will be craving.

World number one Scottie Scheffler and two-time 2024 major winner Xander Schauffele will certainly be the ones to watch.

But Lee could be a dark horse for the top prize given some of his performances this season, with Rex Hoggard suggesting around 14 under and 16 under as a winning score.

The course is likely to challenge even the top competitors, with South Korea’s Tom Kim claiming Le Golf National will be a ‘really good test of golf for everyone’.

Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark complete Team USA, with Irish aces Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry among the many other star names playing in the event.
