Min Woo Lee has been linked with a move to LIV Golf all summer, as the Saudi-backed league eyes top PGA Tour talent.

It was reported that two recent PGA Tour winners were joining LIV, which naturally raised Min Woo Lee’s name after he won the Houston Open in 2025.

His popularity among golf fans makes Lee the ideal candidate to join LIV, especially after witnessing how the tour has helped Bryson DeChambeau raise his profile in recent years.

Lee said in 2024 that he had no intention of leaving the PGA Tour, but many players have changed their stance in the past. Just look at Jon Rahm, who was highly critical of the tour before joining in 2023.

And after months of speculation, Lee has finally confirmed whether he will be playing on LIV next season.

Min Woo Lee addressed LIV Golf rumours

Lee has categorically confirmed that he will remain on the PGA Tour next season. Speaking to AAP, he said, “There’s been a lot of rumours. I’m not going and am just going to play on the PGA Tour.

“So I’m happy with where I’m at and I’m looking forward to next year.”

The Perth-born star still has some work to do during the Australian summer. He’s currently ranked 46th in the Official World Golf rankings, and needs to finish in the top 50 by December 31 in order to secure his spot at The Masters

He’s hoping to book his place at Augusta National in his home country. Lee explained: “I’ve just got to play good golf in the Aussie summer and hopefully I can lock it up.

“I never want to miss a major, The Masters especially. It’s one of the biggest tournaments in the world, so I’ll do whatever I can to get in.”

Min Woo Lee thinks new LIV Golf format will help Australian star

LIV Golf recently changed to a 72-hole format in the hope that they will be recognised for OWGR points in the future.

Rory McIlroy was critical of the decision, saying it won’t make a difference to their eligibility for points, but 2025 LIV Golf Individual Champion Rahm has always been in favour of the change.

Lee said the change is likely to benefit Australian major winner Cameron Smith, who is winless on LIV in the last two seasons. He was one of the brightest stars in golf when he joined the tour in 2022, having just won The Open Championship, but Smith form has since suffered.

Lee said that playing more holes on LIV will give Smith an opportunity to win some events. He explained: “Cam was one of the best players in the world before he went to LIV, and I hope he can find a stride.

“Great golfers, over time, if there are more holes, they’re probably going to come out on top. So hopefully we can see some good golf out of him. We have a practice round every time at the Masters and the majors, so I hope for the best for him.”

Playing over 72 holes certainly benefits the best players. Talent rises to the top, the longer the weekend goes on. Hopefully for Smith, this can give him the boost he needs to get him back to the top of the leaderboard.
