Jordan Spieth has undoubtedly already set his sights on next year after enduring a very frustrating 2024 season.

Spieth has dropped out of the world top 50, having clinched just three top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season.

The American has, however, been heavily impacted by a wrist injury, with surgery having been required to help fix the issue.

Spieth made the cut in 14 of his 22 PGA Tour events this season, with improved results needed next time out if he plans to make a Ryder Cup appearance.

Team USA captain Keegan Bradley will be carefully planning his side at this moment in time, and Spieth should be desperate to be involved.

Michael Greller discusses Jordan Spieth’s behaviour towards him on the course

Bethpage Black hosts the next edition of the team event next September, but Spieth has plenty of work to do before then to catch the eye of the host captain.

Spieth’s will be planning a strong start to the new season under long-time caddie Michael Greller, who has been sharing his thoughts on the star’s behaviour towards him on the course.

“You have to take into account what is your player thinking?” Greller told The Scoop. “Does he have adrenaline, is he nervous, is he not focused, is he too confident? You have to get a gauge for where they’re at.

“There was a shot at Bay Hill and it says driver if you look at the data. And Jordan asked what does it call for? I said the stats say driver and I could tell he wasn’t comfortable with it. He ended up hitting hybrid and ended up hitting it in the right rough but he said later I am glad I hit hybrid because if I hit driver I would be out of bounds.”

Jordan Spieth ‘wears his emotions on his sleeve’

Spieth has enjoyed a hugely successful career so far, and at the age of just 31 he undoubtedly still has plenty more to give.

A 13-time PGA Tour winner, the American has three major championship titles to his name, missing only the PGA Championship.

It was a difficult major season for him this time around, having started out by missing the cut at The Masters.

A T43 finish followed at the PGA Championship, which did improve to T41 and T25 at the US Open and The Open Championship respectively.

Spieth could get back to his best next time out, with his caddie Greller feeling very fortunate to be working alongside the player on the course.

“You have to be really perceptive over what your guy is thinking,” he added. “For me I am very lucky as Jordan wears his emotions on his sleeve, which is great for all of you [fans] but it’s also great for me.

“I think most caddies would say… you want to know what your guy is thinking. Jordan does a great job of communicating what he is thinking, no matter what it is, so it gives me a good gauge of when to back off.

“As a caddie you are always trying to protect from danger and my guy, he thinks he can pull off every golf shot in the world. It’s a blessing usually and once in a while it doesn’t work out, but you live for it. You would rather caddie for a guy who is fearless than scared.”

Matt McCarty loves how Spieth talks to Greller, having shared that verdict after securing his maiden PGA Tour win at the Black Desert Championship earlier this month.
