The closest match of the first TGL season took place last night as Atlanta Drive GC beat New York GC 4-0 at the SoFi Centre.

After two very one-sided fixtures, fans were desperate to witness a closely fought contest in Palm Beach.

Despite New York GC failing to win a hole, the deficit was the closest seen yet in a TGL fixture, perhaps indicating the tech-infused venture does have the required entertainment factor.

However, there are still a few teething issues that need to be ironed out. The movable green came under fire during Jupiter Links’ opening fixture, and Matt Fitzpatrick has now spotted a problem with the greenside bunker.

After New York’s second loss, the Englishman noted a ‘subtle’ issue with the trap that both Kevin Kisner and Tiger Woods struggled with last week.

“The only issue I had was the bunker. But I think it’s one of those that’s subtle. It felt like a great strike to me. It obviously went 50 yards or whatever,” Fitzpatrick told reporters.

“I spoke to Chris; we thought it could have hit a lip maybe in the actual game, so obviously, that was always going to be short. But other than that, everything else was really good. But it’s hard with the sand, the subtle strikes. You might think it’s good, but it’s five, ten yards short.”

Rickie Fowler was also thrust in front of the media after Tuesday’s action, and the six-time PGA Tour winner said all the equipment appeared to be working correctly.

“I thought tonight I didn’t see anything that was odd,” Fowler said. “I felt like the shots that I hit were represented on there. I know they’ve made some adjustments as far as moving the parameters for the front tee box back and getting some better readings for wedge shots. I didn’t see anything on my end that was off.”

Who starred on night three of the TGL?

Justin Thomas was the man who stole the show during Atlanta Drive’s opening match at the SoFi Centre.

Lining up alongside Patrick Cantlay and Billy Horschel, Thomas helped Atalanta win the two opening holes. After New York passed up a chance to win the third, Thomas managed to scramble a par of the par-five fourth hole after finding the penalty area with his tee shot.

The two-time major winner showcased his ability on the sixth when his pinpoint approach landed just six feet from the hole. Thomas’ putter also caught fire on the 13th after he holed a long-range birdie putt.

Thomas is coming off a second-place finish at The Amex, and his game is clearly trending in the right direction ahead of the major championship season.
