Martin Kaymer has admitted that one of his Cleeks GC teammates was struggling during the first two days of LIV Golf Singapore.
The 39-year-old German finished on seven under and tied 20th after his three rounds at Sentosa Golf Club.
His outing at the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia was his second-best finish of the 2024 season after coming 14th in Adelaide last week.
Kaymer will be disappointed with how he closed out on Sunday after shooting level par, failing to capitalise on his excellent work on Friday and Saturday.
Cleeks’ performance, however, will come as a big positive for the German. The third-place finish behind Fireballs and Ripper is their best result of 2024.
Martin Kaymer makes an admission about LIV Golf teammate

Adrian Meronk was the standout performer for Cleeks, finishing tied for 10th on nine-under. Richard Bland was two under, and Kalle Samooja on eight under.
Samooja carded an excellent 64 on Sunday to fight back after a disappointing opening two rounds, and Kaymer noted his teammate’s early struggles during his post-round press conference.
He said [LIV Golf website]: “That performance today, it was very important for him. He was struggling during the practice rounds and the last two days. He must have found something yesterday on the course.”
Strong couple of weeks for Martin Kaymer heading to the PGA Championship at Valhalla
Kaymer needed to find some form, and he’s done precisely that heading ahead of the PGA Championship at Valhalla.
The 2010 winner is one of nine LIV players heading to Louisville for this year’s tournament. His seven-under finish at Sentosa should give the German a little more reason to be optimistic.
For LIV and Greg Norman, a positive outing from their stars in the year’s second major is essential. Despite three players finishing in the top ten at Augusta, the top five were all PGA Tour representatives.
A strong display would dispel any queries over the competitiveness of the breakaway league. And a LIV star toppling Scottie Scheffler would be a huge statement of intent.
