The Philippines has successfully hosted the International Series this week as homegrown favourite Miguel Tabuena ran out the winner and there are now suggestions LIV Golf could look to land there in the future.
Tabuena’s win by three shots went down very well with the locals but there were also some big names on display at the event as well.
The likes of Marc Leishman, Anthony Kim – who actually missed the cut – and more were all part of a strong field that also included fellow LIV players Dustin Johnson and Caleb Surratt.

In the end, Leishman was the main man for LIV as he finished in 6th place, some five shots back of the winner.
However, looking at the bigger picture, Leishman admitted that the Philippines is somewhere he’d love to return with LIV Golf.

Marc Leishman says whether the Philippines can host a LIV Golf event
LIV Golf very much tries to portray itself as the global tour and that is one of its USPs when it comes to differing from the PGA Tour.
With events in places like Mexico, Australia, the UK and the Far East already set in stone, LIV has a chance to grow even further.
And according to Leishman, the Philippines is more than ready.
“Definitely, yes,” Leishman replied when asked about there being a LIV event in the country.
“I think the Philippines could definitely handle it. Obviously, it’s a lot bigger build-out than what an International Series event is, similar, but on a bigger scale. I think they’re ready. The crowds would embrace it, seeing all the best players in the world, and I’m sure the players would love it too.
“I hope there is an event here in the future.”

Marc Leishman’s verdict on the golf course Sta Elena Golf Club
The beautifully picturesque Sta Elena has played host to the event this week and it’s been more than enough of a success to warrant a return from one of the big tours.
With LIV Golf always looking to expand, the Philippines is a realistic possibility and endorsing the place further, Leishman admitted the course itself was great.
“I love the golf course, the layout is fantastic, and the greens are rolling really nice,” Leishman added.
“It’s risk-reward. There are a few holes you can take on if you want, but if you miss it, it’s very penalising. I really, really enjoy the golf course.”
Leishman, then, has given the Philippines a huge shoutout here and it’s now down to the powers that be with LIV if we see an event there in the future.
