The Solheim Cup returns this week as Team USA host Team Europe at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.
Team USA boast 10 Solheim Cup victories, compared to the seven of Team Europe, although the latter are now aiming for four in a row.
There has also been one draw between the two teams, with last year’s 14-14 tie ensuring the hosts retained the cup thanks to their previous two victories.
Lexi Thompson has been backed to shine for the US side, which also contains world number one Nelly Korda.
But the team event doesn’t necessarily mean the biggest names will prevail, with unity and indeed dealing with pressure necessary to be on the winning side.

Luke Donald wants Team Europe to ‘make history’ at the Solheim Cup
That is the same as the men’s equivalent, with Luke Donald preparing for the Ryder Cup in 2025 at Bethpage Black, New York.
The Team Europe captain has, however, taken time to wish their female counterparts well ahead of the Solheim Cup.
As per the Ladies European Tour on X, Donald said: “Hi ladies, on behalf of myself and Team Europe, just wanted to wish you all the very best this week in Virginia.
“I hope you go out there and make history by winning four Solheim Cups in a row. Go get ’em, play as a team, play together, play to win.”
Can Suzann Pettersen lead Europe to Solheim Cup glory?
Just like Donald is doing for the 2025 Ryder Cup, both Solheim Cup captains are reprising their roles in Virginia.
Suzann Pettersen will once again lead Team Europe, with Stacy Lewis back as leader of Team USA, this time on home soil.
Pettersen helped her side retain the prestigious trophy in Malaga last September, with Donald making it a European double in Rome shortly after.
The latter is now currently planning on how he can clinch further success in America this time next year, with plenty certain to be on his mind at this moment in time.
Among those desperate to play for Team Europe is Matt Wallace, who now sits top of the European rankings after winning the European Masters.
