Luke Donald will have been doing his final Team Europe preparations for the 2023 Ryder Cup this time last year.
Team Europe then dominated Team USA in Rome, with the hosts emerging victorious 16½ – 11½ in the Italian capital.
The losing team have responded by appointing a new captain, with golf fans baffled at Keegan Bradley’s Team USA captaincy.
Rickie Fowler was surprised at Keegan’s captaincy, with the PGA of America certainly going down a different route to previous years.
Team Europe have, however, stuck with their winning formula from Rome, keeping Donald in place for 2025.

Luke Donald reacts as Team Europe makes 2025 Ryder Cup change
He will once again captain the European team, with preparation now underway for the event at Bethpage Black next September.
But a significant change from previous years has been made by Team Europe, with only one Points List operational in the 2024/2025 qualification period.
Donald, who helped implement the change with Ryder Cup Europe, has now reacted on X, saying: “Excited to start the qualification process again and see who can push for a place on Team Europe.”
What changes have been made to Team Europe’s 2025 Ryder Cup qualification?
The alteration has been ratified by the DP World Tour’s Tournament Committee, with the change representing an amalgamation of and replacement for the World Points List and the European Points List.
The former was based on Official World Golf Ranking points, with the latter based on Race to Dubai Ranking points.
There are, however, circumstances which have not been altered, with players still needing to be European and have a DP World Tour membership.
Importantly, Donald will have six Captain’s Picks, with the top six qualified players once again making the cut.
Given the new Team Europe Points List, and the replacement of Zach Johnson with Bradley, the 2025 Ryder Cup should be quite the spectacle.
