A week has now passed since the Ryder Cup got underway at Bethpage Black but the respect from Luke Donald hasn’t stopped.
Donald led his team with class and poise all week in New York and was lucky enough to be the winning captain against his opposite number, Keegan Bradley.
Bradley watched on in despair in the opening two days before he saw his team produce a huge fightback in the singles and very nearly pull off the greatest of escapes.

In the end, it was too little too late as Shane Lowry’s putt sealed things for Europe.
The aftermath has been shrouded in controversy with discussions on crowds, the envelope rule and other matters.
However, one constant has been the class shown from Luke Donald and he’s been at it again on social media this evening.

Luke Donald sends message to Keegan Bradley
Donald has come out of the Ryder Cup with so much integrity and praise, he really has.
The European skipper has led his team brilliantly and it’s little wonder the Europeans do so well for him and really perform.
Now, taking to his Instagram page this evening, Donald has reflected on his relationship with Keegan Bradley and sent some kind words the way of the US captain.
“I want to take a moment to thank my friend and opposing Captain, Keegan. As I said in my opening ceremony speech last week, I have really valued our friendship over the years and that bond will last well beyond Ryder Cup week.
“Our Captaincy journey and the contest between our two teams will give us memories that we will continue to look back on together for many years to come.
“I watched Keegan closely last week and in the build-up. His passion and love for this event, and for his country, is undeniable. The Sunday charge his players made showed just how much they wanted to win for him, and that says everything about the respect they have for their Captain.
“Unless you’ve walked into that arena, it’s impossible to fully understand the pressures that come with being Captain. He has my full respect, as well as my friendship.”
Luke Donald has to go for three in a row at Adare Manor
Whether or not we see Keegan Bradley get another run at Ryder Cup captain remains to be seen but for Luke Donald, the carrot is already dangling.
Jon Rahm has already called on Donald to do another term and there is a feeling within the game that he might just go for the hat-trick.
Paul McGinley has claimed Donald has already spoken briefly about the situation and as of right now, there are discussions to be had between all the relevant people required.
For Europe, it would be a crying shame if Donald did decide to step down but in fairness to him, he may feel he’s done what he can and want to bow out on a high.
Nevertheless, winning three in a row is something that could tempt him and for European fans, a third run with Donald is surely what everyone wants.
