Jon Rahm was one of the stars of the show for Europe over in America this week as they retained the Ryder Cup under captain Luke Donald.
Rahm was a dominant force in the team events before just running out of steam in the singles and going down to Xander Schauffele 4&3.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard was the bedrock of what Europe built their opening two days on and just like the likes of Seve Ballesteros before him, his passion and class shone through.
Rahm will be hoping to be involved in the next few Ryder Cups at the very least and given his quality, it’s hard to see how he doesn’t play.
Of course, whether or not Luke Donald will be in place for 2027, remains to be seen.
But for Rahm, he’s under no illusions as to what should happen.

Jon Rahm comments on Luke Donald as Europe win the Ryder Cup
Everyone can see just what the players think of Luke Donald.
This is a man and a captain who has everything a leader needs and it’s little wonder Team Europe excel under his guidance.
Indeed, speaking on his captain to the media afterwards, Rahm has admitted that for him, Donald needs to stay in place until at least 2027.
“Luke has set the bar for captaincy so extremely high,” Rahm said.
“What he’s done these four years of being a part of, is absolutely astonishing. He has been so professional, so dedicated, so incredibly meticulous, and well organized and doing everything that he needs to do and that’s why you’ve seen the two performances you’ve seen from us.
“He’s the leader of the ship and he’s definitely led us the right way. The only thing left to say from I think all of us is two more years.”
Jon Rahm praises Team USA as Europe win at Bethpage Black
Jon Rahm was vital for Europe over the opening two days but even he must have thought things were derailing at one point.
The US team seemed to have everything going for them and in the end, they just came up short.
Nevertheless, Rahm found time to praise his US counterparts, admitting it was hard to describe what was going on.
“The U.S. Team did nothing short of amazing. What they almost pulled off was incredible but luckily we had a big enough lead and the people to get it done. Hard to describe. Hard to describe what an atmosphere it’s been all week, how tough it’s been for all of us and I couldn’t be any prouder of everybody on the team. We came together as a team and we did what we thought was impossible. This one feels very special,” Rahm added.
“It’s golf. Sports. It’s the reason why on Sunday you play 12 points. A lot of things can change, and it did today. Again, the U.S. did what they needed to, made great putts. That kind of set the tone and then the cheers keep happening and you can feel it throughout the whole golf course, and the boys in the hardest position of all were able to hold on and get it done.
“Also kudos to Ludvig for getting the win. He stayed steady against a tough opponent like Patrick Cantlay and got the point early, which was very helpful, as well.”
