Ludvig Aberg is going along more than nicely at the Scottish Open this week and he’s now comfortably above Scottie Scheffler in one key statistic.

Aberg is very much emerging as one of the players who could challenge Scheffler at the top of the world rankings over the next few years.

The young Swede has been on the radar for some time but seems to be roaring to life in 2024 and is the clubhouse leader at the Renaissance Club on 12-under par.

Aberg is making the game look easy around the Scottish links as the lack of wind and rain plays into the players’ hands.

And in doing so, he’s writing himself into the record books as well with some impressive stats backing his brilliant play up.

Ludvig Aberg now above Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele in key statistic

Whenever a player is playing as well as Aberg on a consistent basis, there’s a chance they’re going to catch the eyes of the stats guys.

And that’s just what Ludvig Aberg has done by producing two consecutive rounds of six under in Scotland.

Indeed, per a stat shared by the PGA Tour’s official channels, Aberg is now out on his own for the last 12 months for players who have shot scores of 64 or better.

Amazingly, Aberg leads both Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele by four rounds on this stat.

Ludvig Aberg’s 2024 PGA Tour stats make impressive reading

While Scottie Scheffler has been the dominant player in 2024, Aberg has gone along nicely as well despite not racking up the wins.

Aberg has still managed some standout results.

An 8th at Pebble Beach in in February came the week after he’d finished 9th at The Farmers.

Further highlights followed and he finished in 8th once again at The Players, before producing some of the best golf of his career to finish 2nd at The Masters on debut behind Scheffler.

A 10th at the RBC Heritage and a 5th at The Memorial have further backed up Aberg’s potential, while a 12th around Pinehurst at the US Open was nothing to be ashamed of either.

Aberg, then, looks like he is here to stay and he could soon be snapping at the heels of Scheffler on top spot in the coming seasons.
