Ludvig Aberg has produced yet another masterclass in golf this morning and now leads the Scottish Open.

The Swedish youngster once again shot six-under par to go into the clubhouse on 12-under overall and once again show he is one of the top golfers in the world right now.

Aberg, of course, was a wildcard pick for the Ryder Cup in 2023 and he repaid Luke Donald in Rome by producing the goods.

Still just 24, Aberg has had a superb 2024 and very nearly won The Masters at his first attempt before coming 12th at the US Open last month.

Aberg, then, seems to be on a trajectory to the very top in golf and former major winner Rich Beem has been lauding his very latest performance.

Ludvig Aberg compared to Scottie Scheffler after round two of the Scottish Open

Speaking on Sky Sports immediately after seeing Aberg card his second six-under round in succession, Beem has suggested the Swede has the world at his feet right now, and even compared him to Scottie Scheffler.

“I just think the way he’s gone about all this. He never seems to be panicked going from the college ranks to going to superstardom and being in contention in major championships, he just seems oblivious to it all,” Beem said.

“If you look at the likes of Dustin Johnson got to world number one, he just went with the flow, Rickie Fowler had that same mentality. Ludvig Aberg has that same mentality but he’s just a step above as a player and he’s just starting. He’s an infant in the pro game. He can go to extraordinary heights. Nothing bothers him, he takes it as he comes.

“I think he’s like Schauffle, good across the board. The ball striking, it’s Scottie Scheffler-esque. It’s just time after time when it leaves the club head you are ‘ok, I’ve not seen that in quite some time’.

“He’s a little different to most players today and it’s just other worldly.”

As it stands, Aberg is very much in contention to win this weekend and win well.

Of course, a swift change in conditions with a bit of wind and rain could alter that but as Beem says here, Aberg is producing serious levels right now.
