Lucas Herbert was one of the LIV Golf players to end up having a successful year in 2024 as part of the Rippers with Cam Smith.

In the end, Herbert helped Smith and the Rippers GC to the team title for LIV 2024 as the Aussie outfit showcased their talents on the world stage.

For Herbert, who only signed with LIV in January of 2024, it’s been a hugely rewarding first 10 months on tour and given he’s had team success, he will argue his decision has been justified.

Of course, playing on LIV has downsides in terms of ranking points and playing in the majors.

But for Herbert, it’s not just about those things and he has explained just why he’s loved the new environment so much.

Lucas Herbert shares why he loves the LIV Golf schedule so much

Speaking to news.com.au, Herbert spoke at length about his move to LIV and why he loves being on the tour.

And according to Herbert, the schedule giving him time to improve as a player is one of the biggest factors.

“I played so much more in 2023, but it’s just a perfect schedule now,” he said.

“You get your time to get away from the game and get your development blocks to be able to get better, not just from a perspective of hitting balls for three or four days and then go to an event, you can actually really work on your game and elevate your skill set rather than just tune it up.

“I’ve spent 10 months now taking advantage of that opportunity, it’s been awesome.”

More than money?

Herbert’s comments here are interesting and it’s not the first time we’ve heard a player praise the LIV schedule.

However, if the players weren’t so highly compensated by the PIF for their efforts, then would that time off feel as good as it does? Maybe not.

But to Herbert’s credit, you cannot deny that his first year on LIV has been a success and at the end of the day, he’s also a winner.

Nobody in golf seems to know what the future will hold but right now, it’s clear that Herbert and others are reaping the benefits of the LIV riches and programme.
