With the LIV Golf 2024 season in the books, eyes are now turning to 2025 and how the different teams and players will look.

There are contracts expiring and players who finished outside of the top positions which means that in reality, changes could be afoot.

As we know, the big names like Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka will all remain firmly entrenched in the LIV Golf scene.

However, after Sergio Garcia admitted that his Fireballs GC will be looking for a new player in place of Eugenio Chacarra, all eyes will be on who Garcia brings in.

With the Fireballs USP being centred around Spanish speakers, Garcia and the team will no doubt be looking for their new player to meet that criteria. Or, they may go in a completely different direction and literally try and get the best player available.

Going into 2025, Garcia will be joined by David Puig and Abraham Ancer.

But with one slot now open, the Golfing Gazette have taken a look at THREE potential newbies for the Fireballs GC.

Angel Hidalgo

A very obvious choice is Spanish Open winner Angel Hidalgo, who saw off Jon Rahm to win recently on home turf.

The Marbella native is still only 26 and while he’s yet to play in the biggest tournaments on the world stage or the PGA Tour, he’s an up and comer with a high ceiling.

His win in Madrid might have just given him the chance to stake a claim for Garcia’s outfit.

Pablo Larrazabal

If Garcia wants to go for some experience then Barcelona-born DP World Tour star Pablo Larrazabal is a good shout for him.

Larrazabal has actually played on the LIV tour already and featured in the inaugural event at the Centurion Club in the UK.

A nine-time winner on the European Tour and someone who has featured in majors through the years, Larrazabal would bring an element of class and experience to the team.

Tony Finau

While the Spanish speaking might be the USP for the team, if Garcia and co want to go completely left-field and add a top quality PGA Tour player, then Tony Finau might be the man.

Finau was said to be close to joining LIV back in 2023 and with him facing a multi-million dollar legal battle, the riches of LIV might be tempting.

Yes, it would mean a switch up in the Fireballs in general.

But if it’s about winning and maybe going in another direction, then someone like Tony Finau makes perfect sense for them.
